Anara, the barmaid of the Sailors' Inn

Anara is a Dunmer barmaid at the Sailors' Inn and a resident of Aimrah. She feels distinctly unsettled in the town, but has not yet managed to leave. Anara was abandoned at the inn in her early years, and does not remember her parents - who she speculates "could not have been very nice people". She has in recent times formed a close friendship with the sailor, Jebyn, and is very distressed to learn of his disappearance in Finding Jebyn the Sailor

"He's the only one I feel like I can really talk to. You see, I don't have a family... It's difficult sometimes. But Jebyn understands me. He's an orphan, too. I suppose that's why we originally got to talking. It's good to have someone in my life who knows what it's like."

It is during the events of that quest and Shadows under Aimrah that Anara discovers her true heritage - that as part of the Marvus family, and as brother to Jebyn. She can be persuaded to take captaincy of the Marvus's ship, the Paruddma, finally providing her with a means of leaving the town, although it gives her scant comfort at this point:

"Yes... yes... Maybe I'll do that. I don't know. Before, being able to leave Aimrah would have made me so happy, but now... it feels like there is a living, breathing void inside my heart. It hurts. But I'll think about what you said, %PCName. Thank you for everything. And goodbye."

Notes[edit]

  • A model for 'Captain Anara' (TR_m3_Anara2), meant to appear on the Paruddma after she has decided to take it, is in the Construction Set, but does not seem to have been implemented in game. The model has slightly increased stats, and a decent amount of money - indicating a degree of success in her new role, although speaking to her on the subject suggests that something about the town still calls her back.

"Yes, I have a ship now. I could leave Aimrah behind me whenever I wanted to. Sail across the lake. Never return. Perhaps... perhaps I will. Soon. But not yet."
