The Pay to Lose Style is a unique outfit style inspired by the "Pay to Win" trope often associated with subscription-free MMO games. The style dates back to an April Fools' Day joke in 2017 when a "Pay to Lose" category was added to the Crown Store. This category contained two comedic but useless pieces of legendary-quality equipment for sale: a level 1 bucket (heavy helmet) and a level 1 broom (two-handed weapon).

Although the items were never sold again, the joke was later revived in 2023 during the Jester's Festival event. The style that the joke items bore were made available as outfit style pages which could be applied to an outfit using an Outfit Station. Like all styles, it is purely cosmetic.
