"We avoid the barrow outside Morthal. It's haunted, don't you know? The jarl even makes us patrol the area on a regular basis because the ancient dead have a habit of getting up and walking around. Very uncalled for, but things like that happen. That's why we're always prepared." —Swordthane Enyra
Morthal Barrow

Morthal Barrow is an ancient barrow located east of Morthal. Swordthane Enyra took a contingent of soldiers to the barrow upon sighting Reachmen in the area, and hasn't returned. Jarl Reddharn asks you and Lyris Titanborn to check up on them. Sister Elra is briefly seen in the lower chambers before she flees. Centipedes and rats scurry across the floor through the barrow.

There is a copy of The Tower of the Wolf on an altar in the hallway east of the entrance. A Letter to Warlord Rukar can be found on the ground next to a dead Reach Warrior in the hallway west of the entrance. Sister Elra's Proclamation can be found on a wall in the southeastern hallway leading to the southern chamber. Dead Morthal Soldiers line the westernmost hallway. An Atmoran Tablet can be found near the northwestern exit. Picking up the tablet grants you the lead for Ysgramor's Chosen Body Marking.

Notes[edit]

  • Morthal Barrow exists in Skyrim as an unmarked ruin containing a couple of skeletons, named "Black Arts Ritual Site". The entrance to the barrow itself is blocked off.
