Martin[edit]
Does Martin Septim count as a death or does he just "ascend to join his ancestors?" Volanaro 09:44, 4 February 2008 (EST)
- I'd have to say "No". He's never actually killed - just disabled. Or at least, I believe so. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 09:53, 4 February 2008 (EST)
Great Gate[edit]
Should the deaths of Jauffre and Baurus and the others who might've died in the Great Gate quest if the player takes too long be added to the Conditional section? Because, of course, they don't die if you get out in time, and since it has to do with time, I'd say it's scripted. Sorry if I'm wrong and am just babbling. — Unsigned comment by 207.171.199.72 (talk) at 01:29 on 9 September 2009
- As it says on top of the page: "A scripted death is one where a game script forcibly kills the character, no matter what choice the player makes." Since you have the opportunity to save both Jauffre and Baurus, they should not be included on the page. --Krusty 08:55, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. — Unsigned comment by 74.127.64.166 (talk) at 21:24 on 12 September 2009
People who attack the player should go on the page.[edit]
I think people who attack the player, or whose death is neccesary to complete a quest should be added to this page. For example, Mogens Wind-Shifter attackes the player during Mazoga the Orc quest, and you cannot proceed without his death, therefore, his death is 100% certain. The same works for Kurdan gro-Dragol, and Kalthar. Both people cannot be spared if you want to continue the quest. No matter how hard you try, those three and others need to die. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 02:32, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- While this is true, it is not scripted meaning the CS kills them (bad explanation but you get it.)--Corevette789 02:37, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- (wow quick reply) Well, it could get a section in this page. I could start in in my sandbox--Arch-Mage MattTalk 02:39, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- To be honest? I think this would be brought up:"A scripted death is one where a game script forcibly kills the character, no matter what choice the player makes." and then you would have done all that work for nothing.--Corevette789 02:44, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- True but I feel those people (Glarithir, Kurdan, Kalthar, Magens, ect.) should go somewhere. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 02:46, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

(←) I agree that it would be interesting to see a complete list of NPCs that need to die to complete quests. But, as Corevette said, a scripted death is something completely different and people like Glarthir are not related to this section. Still, the list would be interesting (although I have no idea where it should go) - but I have a feeling the CS people could make it in seconds... --Krusty 09:27, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, actually not Glarthir because even if you report him you the quest ends and you can protect him and lead him out of the city, but it would look something like this, but with more people in it.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 19:20, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Lucien Lachance[edit]
Since it is breifly possible to kill lachance upon meeting him before killing rufio, wouldnt this make his death a "conditional death" rather than guaranteed? --82.8.217.36 20:20, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- This page lists only Scripted Deaths. The page says: "A scripted death is one where a game script forcibly kills the character, no matter what choice the player makes." This does not fit the description of a conditional scripted death, as it is completely the player's actions as opposed to some sort of internal actions. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 21:02, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Conditional deaths[edit]
Why is Roderick and other dark brotherhood targets on this list and other guild deaths are not? What I mean by that is this page has the Mages guild Volonaro, Selene Oranio, Irlav Jarol and a few others, as well as fighters guild people on the guaranteed deaths list. I find this weird because dark brotherhood members and targets are on the conditional list. If the dark brotherhood is on that list shouldn't the mages/fighters guild be on that list as well? If I'm wrong please explain why. Lorenut (talk) 07:03, 24 June 2014 (GMT)
- Nevermind my question. I'm still confused a little, but I overlooked something that explained it somewhat. Lorenut (talk) 15:37, 24 June 2014 (GMT)
- Scripted deaths refer to events that are triggered by the game's internal factors rather than by the player's actions (i.e., killing NPCs directly). The Brotherhood targets are only scripted for death when you fulfill certain bonuses. So getting the minotaur head to fall on Baenlin or successfully replacing Roderick's medicine will activate the flags to trigger their scripted deaths, but getting caught in the act will force you to kill them the old fashioned way, which won't trigger the flag that activates the death scripts. The Bruma Mages Guild members will always have their scripted deaths triggered because they're dead when you arrive, which is why they're guaranteed. That's my understanding, anyway.
