Attacking Else[edit]

He has been observed attacking Else God-Hater in Two Sister's Lodge, of what seems like no reason.

It seems very possible that Else actually was trying to attack the player (because she's a Mythic Dawn agent) and Graklak got involved. At the least it would be useful to have a bit more information so that other possibilities like this could be ruled out before posting a note in the article. --NepheleTalk 17:23, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

In my game I had zero infamy and fame. Graklak walked in pulled out his dagger Alval cast some massive damage frost spell and killed him. — Unsigned comment by 207.199.196.90 (talk) on 1 January 2008

I had also seen Else attack Graklak, though it was in The West Weald Inn, just after talking to Sinderion for the first time on Nirnroots, and was thinking 'by the Nine', it was quite bizarre. I had a recent save so I reloaded it to see it yet again happen. I also had a save a little previously where after loading (thankfully to me, he did not die). After reading what other people say, I am glad to realize my suspicion that she is a Mythic Dawn member was correct. Though this also makes me quite scarred because she totalled Graklak gro-Buglump with a single slash either of the two loads where they attacked. The fight seemed to be initiated by Else, though I agree as else where that with Graklak being a rogue and what not in that line he must have picked the wrong mark. Paid the highest price, his death. To further detail things, I have just returned the Amulet to Jauffre in the main quest, though I have tried to get a few recommendations for the Mage's guild and started a few side quests. My character is second level, so he really hasn't gone so far. Glad to read other people writing about stuff that I found weird, to give me a few bits of info. I am also glad that I am finally attempting to help other late comers to the game! — Unsigned comment by Auritor (talkcontribs) on 8 February 2008
Vandorallen Trebatius was also seen fighting Graklak after another player received his weak potion from Sinderion. The fight escalated to the point where Vandorallen escaped through the balcony with Graklak following intently. When the player finally emerged through the balcony door, Graklak was a heap of meat with a bow-equipped guard standing over him, 2 steel arrows in Graklak's chest. — Unsigned comment by 74.68.143.120 (talk) on 6 August 2008
I know its late to reply but just thought I would add to this. I was doing the quest involving Maglir and out of no where Graklak started attacking Else in the West Weald. She summoned her Mystic Dawn armor and started attacking until he ran outside and was killed by guards. I haven't even started the main quest yet either minus the tutorial.--125.238.72.228 09:32, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Is he a thief?[edit]

Is it possible, that he is a common thief like some other NPC characters, stealing from other NPCs? And that he eventually gets caught in the act? And that his victims answer with fighting and calling guards?— Unsigned comment by White-Gandalf (talkcontribs) at 08:55 on 5 August 2007‎ (UTC)

And, even more curious: Is he the mate of Else God-Hater? At least, he is sleeping with her in the same room in the "Two Sister's Lodge"... Why in the world does she attack him? Even when he is on his "business"?— Unsigned comment by White-Gandalf (talkcontribs) at 09:07 on 5 August 2007‎ (UTC)

It is very possible that he would try to do illegal activities, because his responsibility is very low (5). Anyone with a responsibility lower than 30 will break the law.
However, sleeping in the same bed as Else does not have any significance. In inns, NPCs will randomly choose to sleep in any of the available beds. If one side of a double bed is unoccupied it counts as an available bed, and an NPC may choose to sleep there regardless of who is in the other half of the bed. --NepheleTalk 20:34, 5 August 2007 (EDT)

Attacking Alval[edit]

When doing the Dark Brotherhood quest 'A Matter of Honor', it is possible that, if Alval Uvani is staying in the West Weald Inn, that Graklak will come in invisible and kill Alval himself.

This comment sneaked through the net a while back... Like the Else post above, I assume this is because he came to the player's aid. With such a low aggression, it doesn't seem likely that he'd attack somebody for no reason. Again, a little more information is required. –RpehTCE 15:46, 21 February 2008 (EST)

I don't really know who he goes after, but in my game he wound up pissing off the vampire hunters that were in town during the vampire quest. gro-Buglump definitely has some kind of behavior that makes people angry, although his aggressive is low enough that he tries to run away when he is caught. 67.176.147.226 04:24, 20 April 2008 (EDT)
I have also noticed him getting into fights with Vandorallen Trebatius, who easily defeated him despite being armed with his fists only. Doesn't this deserve to be mentioned in the article? I think at least seven NPCs who Graklak likes to attack have been reported (Else god-Hater, Alval Uvani, Vandorallen Trebatius and the Vampire Hunters).Nifhelton 16:50, 7 June 2008 (EDT)
I also seen him getting killed by the vampire hunters during the Information at a Price quest, appearently though is had nothing to do with me/my character as I had 100% chameleon. It does make sense to assume he is a low lvl thief and may have been caught in the attempt to steal from the hunters. — Unsigned comment by 76.18.81.152 (talk)

I was waiting for one of the vampire hunters to eat a poisoned apple and Graklak comes out of invisibility and attacks the head of the vampire hunters. He runs upstairs goes invisible then gets killed.

His hostility[edit]

Given the latest mention of his hostility, I feel this NPC warrants a more thorough research. One quick look at this talk page reveals many more instances of his hostility. The NPCs he picks out are Else God-Hater, Alval Uvani, the vampire hunters and Vandorallen Trebatius, all in the West Weald. I've had it happen myself with Alval Uvani. Everytime he becomes aggressive, he turns invisible and attacks a random resident. If I remember correctly, he stays invisible during his attacks! That's something that needs to be researched as well. So, why is he aggressive, who does he attack and why, and how comes that he stays invisible during his attacks (If I remembered correctly)? It isn't likely he comes to the player's aid, as, in my case, Alval had no reason to attack me and A Matter of Honor wasn't one of my active quests. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 10:13, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Could it be he is attacking people for their food? Or stealing food and ending up attacked for it? He has low responsiblity and his AI tells him to eat at certain times. He doesn't have his own food so he has to find some around the places he wanders. Griffinsong 10:42, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
His responsibility is only 5, so that could be it. Although most low-responsibility NPC I've seen only pickpocket food, not attack the owner of the food. He also starts to attack when he's outside the inn, as that is the moment when he turns invisible. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 11:18, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Wow, this is weird. I just tested this and have found a technique to make it happen every time. Why it is happening I have no idea - but it does. If you place a piece of food on Else God-Hater before 8am and wait until the clock strikes 8am (when Graklak is supposed to eat his breakfast), then bingo; Graklak casts a invisibility-spell (or chameleon, I'm not sure) on himself and attacks. Else, of course, pulls out her full Mythic Dawn spell and then the fight can begin. I don't know if this is important, but for testing, I emptied the whole inn for food, leaving Else with the only food left in the cell. --Krusty 15:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Nice test, Krusty. I wonder if this behavior is limited to Graklak only, or do other NPCs suffer from this behavior as well? If so, this should probably be mentioned on his page. Graklak is namely the only NPC I've seen so far that attacks other residents for food, instead of just pickpocketing it. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 15:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Me too. I was really surprised when he attacked for no reason. I tested it a bit further, this time without removing the food from the inn, and everything went fine, he just took a seat and ate peacefully. For the record, I used a Poisoned Apple for the test - which pretty much resembles an experience from another user above. What would be really interesting to know is this: Why does it happen? And, as you mentioned, are there any other NPCs infected with this bug? Only the CS can tell... --Krusty 15:53, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Could it be that it has something to do with his Sneak skill? It's only 5 so maybe the AI calculates he'll have better chances fighting for the food than trying to pickpocket it. Griffinsong 11:49, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I've had a look in the CS, and there is nothing in any scripts or object ownership that should make him turn hostile. Therefore, the only thing I can see that could cause this behaviour is his responsibility. Most other 'food-stealers' have a responsibility of 25 or 30 (e.g. Fathis Ules, Marana Rian), so maybe with such a low responsibility (which is probably a typo and should be 50) he has no qualms about attacking somebody for their food. A simple test could prove this - if his responsibility is increased through the console, does he still exhibit this behaviour? --Gaebrial 17:52, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Other NPC's Talking[edit]

I overheard Hal-Liurz tell one of the guards something along the lines of, "I don't know about Graklak, he seems slick to me." It was in the context of him being non-trustworthy. Petty thief who steals food, or rather kills for it, seems like the best bet here. Anyone else heard any NPC's talk about Graklak? — Unsigned comment by 76.20.218.110 (talk) at 05:51 on 2 January 2010

Belated reply, I know, but I finally found the bit of dialogue you are talking about: "I wouldn't mind making a few bets, but I'm not sure about Graklak. He seems a bit slick to me." Problem is, this dialogue is supposed to be a response to something else, and I really can't find anything that matches it. Maybe the CS people can figure this one out? --Krusty 22:18, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

He is not the hostile one[edit]

As you can see Else-god-hater has an aggress of 10.Which means that she will attack anyone who dispotition is really low. When she enters in convesrsation with Graklak-gro-Buglump at the end of their chatting they both say:stop talking at me or other negative things. It means that his disposition with Else-God-Hater is really low.Since his aggresion his 5 he is not the one attacking Else-god-hater,is HER,who attacks him by having an aggresion of 10.Also since the responsability is really low it could be also that he makes things like stealing in front of Else-God-Hater that lowers her dispotition until is 0.Making her hostile against Graklak. Please tell me if you agree with me.Sayonara 19:17, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

It's not Else. Else is always at the West Weald Inn, but as other players have already pointed out, Graklak has gone hostile in the Two Sisters Lodge as well. I've experienced this myself.

Graklak Killed by Eridor[edit]

Through my first playthrough, I do not believe I have had any encounters with Graklak, up until now. I have just began the "Information at a Price" quest in the Mages Guild quest line. After speaking with Eridor, Graklak walks into the Two Sisters Lodge, and immediately gets killed by Eridor and another vampire hunter I was unable to identify during the melee.— Unsigned comment by 69.122.31.239 (talk) at 23:05 on 3 June 2010

All of this seems to be caused by Graklak's low responsibility, only 5. It seems that causes him to attack random inn-goers. Look at the previous talk page posts. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 13:08, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
