The Catacombs (ODDHQ08Kata)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
5 Pelagius has found that Tyrfing's blade lies in the castle catacombs. At the word "catacombs" he was quite awestruck, but he said that it must be done. He said also that he should accompany me when we recover the blade.
10 Helgarth will also be at my side when we enter the catacombs. He insisted on accompanying me. Maybe I can find records of the catacombs in the library, which could be of some use?
15 Here we go. Pelagius, Helgarth and I will now make our way under the castle.
31 We have entered the catacombs. With Helgarth and Pelagius by my side, I'll face the dangers of the deep with open eyes.
50 We came across a seal. Pelagius thinks he can break it, but it requires special mushrooms that grow down here in the catacombs. Pelagius called them deep mushrooms. He said that he needs five of the fungi.
65 After countless hours in complete darkness, during which we passed through the endless corridors of the dark catacombs, I finally see the light.
100 Tyrfing! The sword I was seeking for so long. It will lead us to a new emperor. It is... what was that? Strange noises? Down here?
102 Mephala's Envoys! They are here. With Tyrfing, we have a chance. I have given Helgarth the sword. He will perform the final blow when one of the Envoys is on the ground. (If you gave the sword to Helgarth.)

or

Mephala's Envoys! They are here. With Tyrfing, we have a chance. I will wield the sword, while Pelagius and Helgarth support me. It is I who must carry out the final blow when an Envoy is on the ground. (If you kept it.)
115 We have destroyed the Envoys! But... Pelagius has surreptitiously murdered Helgarth. And now he wants Tyrfing. He wants to kill the daedric prince Mephala. Maybe to make himself a daedric prince. He was never concerned about the Empire. I suspect it made no difference to him while he was still alive. Also, the fact that he is to blame for the Order of the Dragon being wiped out by Mephala's plague, doesn't seem to concern him. And now he wants to kill me... but not on my watch!
120 Pelagius is dead! I have overcome the traitor. Finally. Now I have to get to the Countess in Bruma. With Tyrfing's stone, she will ignite the Dragon Fire and save the Empire. She should be the new empress. The time to mourn Helgarth will come after. The Empire needs me! I hope I can find my back out of the catacombs without Pelagius' help. I mustn't forget Tyrfing! (If Helgarth has Tyrfing.)

125 Finishes quest☑ After a miserably long march through the dark corridors, I finally arrived back at the beginning of the catacombs. I hope it's not too late. Mephala will be angrier than ever. The last time, his anger extinguished the Order of the Dragon. What will he do this time? Send a plague to the Imperial City? But more importantly, the Countess. She must ignite the Dragon Fire and give people hope.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDHQ08Kata stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
