Resist Paralysis M% for D seconds
Decreases by M% the chance of being paralyzed (from spells or poisons; power attacks with a chance to paralyze are not affected by this effect - see below).
It is possible, although unnecessary, to have a higher than 100% resistance to paralysis. This may be achieved through potions and enchanted items.
- The Ring of Vitality provides 100% Resist Paralysis.
Notes[edit]
- This effect is not normally available as a spell. However, you can gain access to it by becoming a vampire, in which case custom spells and enchantments can be created.
- This effect can also be acquired via the spell Resist Paralysis if the Spell Tomes official download is installed.
- This is the only Resist effect without a Weakness counterpart; i.e., there is no Weakness to Paralysis.
- While Resist Paralysis reduces the chance a character will become paralyzed, a Resist Magic or Resist Poison effect will reduce the duration of a Paralysis effect that is successfully delivered via magic or poison, respectively.
- The paralyzing effects of the Master perks of physical attacks (namely Blade, Blunt, Hand to Hand, and Marksman) are handled differently than an ordinary Paralyze spell. As a result, actors normally resistant to Paralysis are still fully vulnerable to the paralyzing physical attack.
- Enemies with paralyzing spells, attacks, or weapons are relatively rare. Only Goblin Shamans and Spiderlings use paralyzing spells or natural attacks. Also, some higher-leveled Dremora Kynmarchers and Markynaz (melee and mage types, starting from level 15) have a 20-25% chance of carrying an enchanted claymore, of which one in ten has a paralyze enchantment, while other Dremora (starting from level 16) may carry Paralyze scrolls (up to 2% chance).
- Spore PodsSI can set off Paralyze spells up to 3 seconds in 16 feet.
