Castle Ebonheart

The Order of Ebonheart was a knightly order situated in Castle Ebonheart on Vvardenfell. As one of the orders of Imperial Knights of the Imperial Legion, they belonged to the upper ranks,[1] with many from the Order of Ebonheart serving in administrative positions on Vvardenfell. Examples include the Knight of the Imperial Dragon, Varus Vantinius, who was tasked with leading the Imperial Legion on Vvardenfell.[2] Sellus Gravius was a Knight Errant tasked as an emissary for the Census and Excise office in Seyda Neen.[3]

History[edit]

The artifacts Chrysamere and the Lord's Mail were in the possession of the Imperial Legion's Order of Ebonheart for many years.[4] Circa 3E 427, the Nerevarine was tasked with recovering both artifacts from some thieves. The Mail was in the possession of an expelled member of the Legion, while the sword was in the possession of Draramu Hloran, a powerful sorceress found in the Abanabi Caves near Sadrith Mora. The Nerevarine dealt with the thieves and returned the artifacts to Varus Vantinius.[5] The Nerevarine later challenged Vantinius for the title of Knight of the Imperial Dragon; the two dueled in the Vivec City arena, and Vantinius was slain, allowing the Nerevarine as victor to claim both artifacts from his corpse.[6]
