A Fire Atronach created with the use of Atronachy

Atronachy is an arcane art focused on giving life to inanimate material.[1]

The Mages Guild was known to offer atronachy classes in the region of the Iliac Bay as of 3E 405, during which they conducted experiments in the creation of atronach golems.[1] The creation of these golems is a separate form of magic from Atromancy,[2] the summoning of Daedric Atronachs.[3] Golems are typically given life by imbuing them with them with a mortal soul or Daedric vestige.[1][4] Though some are just animated by magicka.

During one routine atronachy class, a test subject—a golem—escaped. In order to prevent potential fallout from the creature's rampage, the Guild hired an adventurer to eliminate the rogue golem. Rumors circulated that the creature had been created using the soul of a member of the local ruler's family, though these claims remained unsubstantiated.[1]
