Chronicles of a Dwarven Cleric in the Estate of Unrest by Reorx Holybeard These are some very general notes about the adventures of a dwarven cleric in the undead zone of Unrest from the levels of 14 to 34. Since playing styles vary dramatically from person to person, and from race to race, not everything may work for you as it has for me. DIRECTIONS ======================================= So, where is this infamous zone anyways you might wonder. It's entrance is in the southern end of Dagnor's Cauldron (DC). The entrance to DC is from the Butcherblock Mountains, home of the dwarves. If you are at the entrance to Kaladim, follow the left path until you reach an intersection at a guard house (the crossroads as its known). Take a right here and follow the path until DC. Things get a little hairy in DC, especially at low levels (that is, 30 and below basically). DC is populated with aqua goblins in the 18 to 25 level range, undertow skeletons (around 20) and various snakes and rats, all aggressive beasts. When you first enter you will be in a long and narrow valley which is usually free of danger. Sometimes a monster will be trained and get stuck somewhere along the way, so caution is advised. Once you reach the end of the valley the fun begins. If you take a right at the end you will encounter a NPC camp over the next hill (4 npcs, dwarf gnome, elf and human I think). The will assist any of their kind if you get in trouble and can take out just about anything in a few seconds (they are all level 20 but quite tough). Note that the NPCs will also attack evil races or classes on sight (ie, necromancers, trolls, etc..). To reach Unrest you can either turn right or left at the edge of the water or swim for it straight south. If you turn left or right the safest route is either following the shore line or the edge of the zone along the mountains. If you go right you will encounter a goblin camp near unrest which should be avoided. If you go left you will encounter an orc scout camp. Higher levels may wish to swim for it since it saves some time if you don't have SOW or other speed enhancing spells and it practices your swimming skill. The entrance to Unrest is a tunnel carved into the side of the mountain and is bathed in a blue-greenish light. If you are following the side of the zone it can be missed if tiy aren't careful. LEVELS 14 to 17 ======================================= I started adventuring here at 10 actually, although not exclusively and its quite dangerous, even in a group. You will want to be in a good group to take out things outside, either in front, or around the house. Beetles are annoying but still give experience but tormented dead, jack'o lanterns, and greater skeletons should be your primary target. The areas around the house get crowded so trains happen easily if you aren't careful. You can also handle the odd ghoul and large wisp if you have magical weapons. You can possibly solo beetles and the easier undead, but its dangerous, especially if you get into trouble. LEVELS 17 to 21 ======================================= Tormented dead, jacks, skels, beetles, and ghouls can be soloing with relative ease during these levels. Hunting inside the two mazes is ideal since you are safe from training (each maze has two spawn spots). If you group can you still take out things outside easily and start trying dark bones, ghouls, and mummies from the first floor of the house. Be very careful when luring from the house, large and deadly trains are common even if you are cautious. LEVELS 21 to 25 ======================================= These are great levels for soloing dark bones, ghouls, and mummies from the house, providing you are careful and don't mind running now and then. You can generally only handle one creature at a time which can be difficult at times. Use root and spook undead to help get a better handle on the combat. A group can handle things from the 2nd floor relatively easily, although again trains are a constant problem if you don't have a competant puller. LEVELS 25 to 30 ======================================= You can now solo things on the 2nd floor of the house including monks, carrions, dry bones, and barbed bones. You can also handle some of the special things such as the reanimated hand, barkeep, ghoul magi and nobles when you can get then alone. LEVELS 30 to 34 ======================================= You can now take on just about anything (alone) with relative ease. This includes some of the tougher creatures such as hags, greater dark bones, and the undead knight. MONSTERS ======================================= Below are a list of monsters in Unrest and their approximate level. I've found that I can solo undead relatively well if they are 2 levels below me or less. Anything else would be a very close fight if I didn't receive assistance. Death Beetles 10-12 Greater Skeletons 13-15 Tormented Undead 13-15 Large Wisps 15 Ghouls 15-17 Dark Bones 16-18 Lurking Mummies 17-19 Gnome Spleunker 20 Dry Bones 20-23 Blade Fiend 21 Reclusive Ghoul Magi 22 Reanimated Hand 23 Carrion Ghouls 22-24 Skeleton Monks 22-24 Werebats 22-24 Undead Barkeep 24 Nobles of Unrest 24 Barbed Bones 24-26 Mortuary Fungus 25? LOOT ======================================= Unrest is quite a good loot area, although it is far from any merchants to unload most of it.
